Baseball Preview: Forest Hill Falcons vs. Suncoast Chargers

Forest Hill and Suncoast are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but likely not for long. The Forest Hill Falcons are on the road again on Thursday to play the Suncoast Chargers at 6:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Last Tuesday, Forest Hill sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Leonard. The victory was just what Forest Hill needed coming off of a 12-2 defeat in their prior match.

Jonathan De La Cruz looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Dominic Castro was incredible, scoring a run while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Bertematt, who went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Meanwhile, Suncoast came out on top against Boca Raton on Thursday by a score of 2-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Suncoast's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Manuel Ones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Forest Hill's record is now 8-9. As for Suncoast, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
