Basketball Recap: Summit Academy Comes Up Short

Summit Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 66-38 loss at the hands of the American Heritage Patriots. The Bears lost against the Patriots in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 97-91 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Summit Academy lost, don't look at Dominik Ruiz. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 9 on his way to 13 points. Kai Fehrenbach was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, Summit Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. This was only their 11th loss (out of 12 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Summit Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for American Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Providence Hall the next time they take the court. American Heritage will host Providence Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Summit Academy will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th.
