After only 13 points in their last game, Compass Academy made sure to put some points up on the board against Anthony on Thursday. The Cougars claimed a resounding 41-0 victory over the Wildcats. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 27.5 points per game.
Compass Academy found their leader in sophomore Mason Hicks, who threw for 176 yards and one TD, and also punched in one score on the ground. Ryian Farris made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Compass Academy, adding 17 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jaylen Jiminez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Compass Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Braxton Morris led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Farris got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The victory made it two in a row for Compass Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for Anthony, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
