Softball Recap: Naperville Central Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Naperville Central got themselves on the board against Benet Academy on Thursday, but Benet Academy never followed suit. They came out on top against the Redwings by a score of 4-0. That's two games straight that the Redhawks have won by exactly four runs.

Not much got past Shea Meech, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Benet Academy off the board. Meech has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lacey Williams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Natalie Lau was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Naperville Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 3-1 when they post two or more home runs.

Naperville Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Benet Academy, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Naperville Central will venture away from home to take on Downers Grove South at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Benet Academy, they will welcome Mother McAuley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
