Baseball Recap: Webberville Gets the Win

Webberville came out on top against Vestaburg on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Spartans walked away with a 9-4 win over the Wolverines. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 10-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on AUSTIN JOHNSON, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Webberville is 2-1 when JOHNSON posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. KALEB MATIYOW was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Webberville and bumps their season record up to 3-5. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-3 Morrice and 4-5 Vestaburg. As for Vestaburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Webberville will challenge Morrice at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Vestaburg, they will face off against Merrill at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
