Softball Recap: Brown County Hornets vs. Macomb Bombers

Brown County extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-22 in the process. They came up short against the Macomb Bombers, falling 17-2. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 23-4 to the Bombers when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Brown County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Buss, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

As for Macomb, their record is now 10-19. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Macomb's side, Kendyl Danner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, Danner posted five strikeouts, the most she's had over her last ten games. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Olivia Whitney and Josie Elbe did most of the damage at the plate: Whitney went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Elbe went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Elbe has posted since back in March. Lauren Bishop was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Brown County nor Macomb have any future games scheduled.
