Riley Meyers was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Alastra, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sumner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, while Graham-Kapowsin put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Bethel. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Bison. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brooklyn Pettit made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izzy Vargas, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. Makayla Young was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Graham-Kapowsin's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Sumner, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Sumner's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Spartans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Graham-Kapowsin, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Sumner continue to outrun the ball?
