Softball Recap: Chalker Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Chalker duked it out with Bloomfield on Wednesday. The Wildcats never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Riley Ashcraft was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chalker got a big performance out of Tatum Hudak, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave Hudak a new career-high. Julia Ross also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Chalker has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Bloomfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Chalker will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cardinals: the pair will be back at it again later today.
