Football Recap: Foothill Knights vs. Capistrano Valley Cougars

Foothill entered their game against Capistrano Valley on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Foothill Knights fell just short of the Capistrano Valley Cougars by a score of 38-35. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 26-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2016.

Loss or not, Foothill got some senior leadership from Gino Marchetti and Nathan Gouvion. Marchetti rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, while Gouvion gained 181 total yards and two touchdowns. Marchetti's longest rush was for an impressive 59 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Kaden Hunter was Acosta's top target, picking up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Foothill's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Capistrano Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Foothill will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Crean Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on October 4th. Foothill knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Crean Lutheran likes a good challenge.
