If Depew was feeling good fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Cheektowaga on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell 11-7 to the Bishop Timon-St. Jude Tigers on Friday. Even though they lost, the Wildcats' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Depew got a good showing from Drew Zmozynski, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Zmozynski hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Jacob Scibetta made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Mercado, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Depew's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Depew will head out to take on Williamsville South at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, they will venture away from home to square off against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
