Grand Junction suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a bye. The Tigers had been ranked 25th, but fell to 28.
Montrose led 4A/5A Southwest in scoring this week after putting up 28 points on Fruita Monument. Angelo Youngren ran for 139 yards and caught two passes for 13 yards in the win.
Durango's dynamic duo of Jeremy Szura and Lane Joseph proved tough for Grand Junction Central to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Szura threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns and Joseph had 92 yards receiving. Demetre Cullison helped Durango's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 40 yards.
The Warriors' Mike Price and Josh Weller have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Price has thrown for 992 yards this season, while Weller, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 39 catches for 727 yards. The Indians' Youngren leads the league in rushing yards with 1163.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Grand Junction takes on second place Montrose. Last week, Grand Junction, while Montrose topped the Wildcats.
