Softball Recap: Garfield Now 16-4 over Last 20 Games

Garfield extended their postseason success on Friday against Seattle Prep. They beat the Panthers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 18 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Sammy Breckenridge looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Garfield got a massive performance out of Sarah Lessig, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Mae Valenta was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Garfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.

Garfield is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. As for Seattle Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Garfield nor Seattle Prep have any future games scheduled.
