Churchill County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Churchill County Greenwave and the Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Pirate will round out the year against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Hopefully Churchill County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact Churchill County proved. They came out on top against South Tahoe by a score of 49-41.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Churchill County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zoey Jarrett, who scored ten points along with six assists and six steals. Jarrett has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jada Anastasio, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon's nine-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end back in November. They took down American Heritage Academy 41-25. Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon found their leader in underclassman Jiselle Garin, who scored 13 points along with three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Garin has scored at least 25% of Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Del Castillo, who scored five points.
Churchill County's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, their victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-5.
