Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Millwood

Millwood won the last time they faced The New Community School and things went their way on Thursday too. The Millwood Bobcats were the clear victor by a 53-32 margin over The New Community School Sabers. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Millwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Griffin Aktalay out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Aktalay's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hanrahan, who posted 16 points and five boards.

Millwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win (which was Millwood's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 42.9% in those games and 26.2% outside of them. As for The New Community School, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Millwood will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against James River HomeSchool at 6:45 p.m. on February 18th. The New Community School has already played their next contest (against Fuqua), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
