Recap: Union County Patriots vs. Blue River Valley Vikings
The Union County Patriots fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Blue River Valley Vikings on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Vikings 52-48. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Union County in their matchups with Blue River Valley: they've now lost three in a row.
Blue River Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maciah Driskill, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Taylor Shelton was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Union County's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Blue River Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Union County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Connersville at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Blue River Valley will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Union City at 10:00 a.m. on December 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Union City is ranked 238th, while Blue River Valley is ranked 220th).
