Basketball Recap: Aquinas Falls Despite Big Games from Madison Vandenberg and Riley Campbell

After a string of three wins, Aquinas's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 54-42 to the Bishop Neumann Cavaliers. The contest marked the Monarchs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Riley Campbell and Madison Vandenberg certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Campbell went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points along with six boards and four steals, while Vandenberg posted ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Campbell is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Aquinas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Aquinas' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-2. As for Bishop Neumann, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Aquinas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-23 victory against Osceola on the 20th. As for Bishop Neumann, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-9 win against Cornerstone Christian School on the 20th.
