Softball Recap: Wesclin Has No Trouble Against Gibault Catholic

Wesclin came out on top against Gibault Catholic on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Warriors put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 8-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won four in a row.

Not much got past Katie Billhartz, who gave up just three hits to keep Gibault Catholic off the board. Billhartz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lauren Marks, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Heidi Nordmann also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Wesclin's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Gibault Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Wesclin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-2 loss against Okawville on the 22nd. As for Gibault Catholic, they have also already played their next match, an 8-2 defeat against Steeleville on the 24th.
