Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Dragons vs. Hapeville Charter Hornets

The Jefferson Dragons will square off against the Hapeville Charter Hornets at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Jefferson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Hapeville Charter likes a good challenge.

Jefferson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They escaped with a win on Friday against Cherokee Bluff by the margin of a single free throw, 86-85. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Dragons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Bears are ranked eighth).

Meanwhile, Hapeville Charter came up short against Lovett on Friday, falling 72-46. The defeat continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost six in a row.

Jefferson's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points per game. As for Hapeville Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Everything went Jefferson's way against Hapeville Charter in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, as Jefferson made off with a 72-48 victory. Does Jefferson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hapeville Charter turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
