Eastern Alamance and Person are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern Alamance is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
Eastern Alamance proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Williams 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since February 26th.
The team relied heavily on Jarrett Newell, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Tate Yount, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Person had taken Southern Alamance down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Rockets fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rockets have suffered against the Patriots since April 5, 2017.
Person saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keeghan Holmes, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Nicholas Young was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Eastern Alamance pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Person, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eastern Alamance has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Person struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Eastern Alamance might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Person when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
