Baseball Game Preview: Purvis Tornadoes vs. Columbia Wildcats

For the second straight game, Purvis will face off against Columbia. The Tornadoes will challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Purvis will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Purvis is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Columbia get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.

JoJo Parker was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Parker wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Parker, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Jacob has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Ethan Walker was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Purvis pushed their record up to 25-6 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Columbia, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-11.
