Basketball Recap: Buckeye Local Comes Up Short

After flying high against Brooke last Wednesday, Buckeye Local came back down to earth. The Buckeye Local Panthers took a blow against the Bellaire Big Reds on Monday, falling 65-21. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Big Reds: they've now lost nine in a row.

Bellaire's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zara Harveth, who went 8 of 15 en route to 23 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Harveth has been hot, having posted 17 or more points the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliana Mason, who went 8 for 14 on her way to 18 points and eight steals.

Buckeye Local's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Bellaire, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2.

Buckeye Local will square off against Harrison Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bellaire, they will challenge Indian Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bellaire is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
