Baseball Game Preview: Zanesville Blue Devils vs. Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets

The Zanesville Blue Devils will square off against the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Zanesville didn't have quite enough to beat Lakewood and fell 3-1. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Zanesville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Greyson Goines, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Newark Catholic on Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Nolan Hershberger, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Packard, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mt. Vernon's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Zanesville, they now have a losing record of 4-5-1.
