Basketball Recap: Wheatland Falls Short Against Ranked Torrington

On Thursday, Wheatland faced Torrington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Wheatland Bulldogs took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Torrington Trailblazers. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Trailblazers: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the defeat, Wheatland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lily Anderson went 8 of 20 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. Anderson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Keil, who posted eight points and four steals.

Wheatland's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Torrington, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Wheatland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-41 win against Rawlins on the 25th. As for Torrington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-26 defeat against Douglas on the 25th.
