Basketball Recap: Alex Nichols' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Foundation Academy over Central Florida Christian Academy

Foundation Academy lost against Central Florida Christian Academy back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Foundation Academy Lions took a hard 78-60 fall against the Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles.

Foundation Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Nichols, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points. The matchup was Nichols' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Michels, who went 7 of 14 en route to 19 points and six rebounds.

Central Florida Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Julian DeClou out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Alexander Dipaolo, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Foundation Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Central Florida Christian Academy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Foundation Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Master's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Foundation Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Master's Academy likes a good challenge. As for Central Florida Christian Academy, they will welcome Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
