Derrick Brown of Lanier (Sugar Hill, Ga.) is ranked No. 8 in the nation in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the top-ranked player in the state. He recently earned MaxPreps National Player of the Year honors and is the Georgia Player of the Year by the Associated Press.

Brown has Alabama on his list along with Auburn and Georgia. He has also made a visit to Mississippi State and will visit Tennessee. According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball, Brown is unanimously expected to commit to Georgia. He posted 106 tackles on the season with 42 tackles for loss and 12 sacks.
