Preview: Manvel Mavericks vs. Fulshear Chargers
The Manvel Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Fulshear Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Manvel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Fulshear is ranked 26th).
Manvel might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Magnolia who claimed the real prize. Manvel fell to Magnolia 27-21.
Even if they lost, Manvel's defense sure didn't make it easy: Magnolia's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Jalen Charles and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Fulshear put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 66-0 win over Fort Bend Kempner. The result was nothing new for Fulshear, who have now won seven matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.
Davion Godley was his usual excellent self, rushing for 165 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Godley hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games. Patrick Broadway ii also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Manvel's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Fulshear, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0.
Manvel couldn't quite finish off Fulshear in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 and fell 9-7. Can Manvel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
