Haxtun had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their matchup on Saturday with ease, bagging a 50-8 win over the McClave Cardinals. Considering the Fightin' Bulldogs have won 11 contests by more than 23 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Haxtun had a senior duo take command as Colin Cone threw for 195 yards and four TDs on only 11 passes and Zach Statz rushed for 159 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries. Cone didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made one tackle. 143 of Cone's passing yards were hauled in by Chase Goddard, who also brought in three receiving touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Haxtun proved: they limited McClave to a paltry two yards per carry. The team can thank Carter Lock for the heroic effort on defense: he. Haxtun hasn't allowed more than 8.4 yards per carry in three consecutive games.
