Baseball Game Preview: Vista Panthers vs. Murrieta Mesa Rams

The Vista Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Murrieta Mesa Rams at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Vista 3.9, Murrieta Mesa 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Vista's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Linfield Christian hitters got past them. Vista lost 11-5 to Linfield Christian on Monday. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Vista got a good showing from Sonny Prue, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Giancarlo Corcuera was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicolas Bala, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Murrieta Mesa, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Heritage last Friday, sneaking past 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Murrieta Mesa's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zach Janczyk, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Murrieta Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
