Baseball Recap: Killian Takes a Loss

Killian and St. Brendan squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Killian had to settle for second. They fell 4-0 to the Sabres. Considering the last time the Cougars couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.

Brandon Pfeiffer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since April 1st.

Killian's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for St. Brendan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-12 record this season.

While Killian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
