Softball Recap: Clearfield Takes Down Woods Cross in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Clearfield rose to the challenge on Saturday. They never let the Woods Cross Wildcats get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Falcons have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jenna Lloyd was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Clearfield got a big performance out of Skylar Davis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Lyla Leonhardt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Clearfield is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Woods Cross, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.

Clearfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
