Rock Ridge is 1-9 against Tuscarora since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Phoenix will challenge the Huskies at 6:30 p.m. Rock Ridge has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Rock Ridge will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Dominion, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Phoenix came out on top against the Titans by a score of 18-15 on Friday.
Riya Cherukuri was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Cherukuri was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Kyra Young was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Laasya Bandi, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Rock Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Tuscarora sidestepped Herndon for an 8-6 victory.
Lily Walker tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits.
On the hitting side, Brileigh Bass was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Chloe Wools was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Rock Ridge's record now sits at 6-8. As for Tuscarora, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.
Rock Ridge suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Tuscarora in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Phoenix avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
