Basketball Game Preview: Pocahontas Indians vs. Algona Bulldogs

The Pocahontas Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Algona Bulldogs at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Pocahontas has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 17.

Pocahontas is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 58 points on Friday, they were much more limited against South Central Calhoun on Tuesday. They were dealt a 57-30 loss at the hands of the Titans.

Meanwhile, Algona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt an 82-43 loss at the hands of Clear Lake. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Lions are ranked second).

Pocahontas' defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Algona, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Pocahontas might still be hurting after the 83-58 defeat they got from Algona in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Pocahontas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
