Preview: New Iberia Yellowjackets vs. Northwest Raiders
New Iberia is 3-0 against Northwest since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The New Iberia Yellowjackets' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Northwest Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
New Iberia has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season. They really took it to St. Martinville for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-31 victory on the road. Given New Iberia's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while St. Martinville is ranked 170th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Eunice scored an imposing 62 points on Saturday, Northwest still came out on top. Everything went Northwest's way against Eunice as Northwest made off with a 82-62 victory. Northwest's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
New Iberia's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Northwest, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Everything went New Iberia's way against Northwest when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as New Iberia made off with a 62-41 victory. With New Iberia ahead 41-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.
