Baseball Recap: Hume-Fogg Comes Up Short

Hume-Fogg extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 10-13 in the process. They lost 12-4 to the Lawson Lightning. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lightning this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-0 defeat on Tuesday.

Benjamin Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. He has become a key player for Hume-Fogg: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

As for Lawson, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The result was nothing new for Lawson, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Lawson's side, Keifer Bruck looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Bruck has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luke Adams, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Henry Sheaffer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Hume-Fogg wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Antioch on the 18th. As for Lawson, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-3 win against Christian Community on the 18th.
