Recap: Columbus East Olympians vs. Greensburg Pirates
The Columbus East Olympians were the 53-43 winner over the Greensburg Pirates when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Columbus East took a serious blow against Greensburg on Thursday, falling 68-31. While losing is never fun, Columbus East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Greensburg is ranked 29th).
Loss or not, Columbus East got some senior leadership from Madelyn Poe who scored 14 points and Messiah Trapp who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Columbus East's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-11. As for Greensburg, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Columbus East will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Greensburg will finish 2023 at home by hosting Zionsville at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Zionsville will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
