Softball Recap: Devine Has No Trouble Against Highlands

While Devine put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Highlands. The Devine Warhorses put the hurt on the Highlands Owls with a sharp 7-0 win. The Warhorses have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Owls, too.

Maddie Brown and Sam Zamora did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went a perfect3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Zamora went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Kenny Cruz was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Devine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

The victory got Devine back to even at 1-1. As for Highlands, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Devine will head out to take on Roma at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Highlands, they will venture away from home to challenge Martin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
