Volleyball Recap: Weed Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Fall River last Thursday, Weed came back down to earth. The Cougars fell just short of the Etna Lions by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

While Weed ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least eight points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 20-25, 15-8.

Ahmani Collins paced Weed's offense, picking up 21 kills. Collins got some help from Brooklynn Bivens and her 21 assists. Maci Phillips controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Weed has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-11 record this season. As for Etna, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-9-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Weed is set to take on their familiar foe Mt. Shasta at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Etna will square off against rival Trinity at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
