Paris and Lamar are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Paris Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lamar Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Paris' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Lamar's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Paris is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 28 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Pottsville on Tuesday. They fell 6-1 to the Apaches. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Lamar fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Valley Springs on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 11-10.

Jody Humphrey stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored a run while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cameron Smith, who scored two runs while going 1-for-5.

Even though they lost, Lamar hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Springs struck out nine times.

Having lost for the first time this season, Paris fell to 3-1. As for Lamar, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Paris beat Lamar 5-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Paris repeat their success, or does Lamar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
