Baseball Recap: Cumberland Gets the Win

The Cumberland Colts beat the Buena Chiefs 12-7 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Colts.

Cumberland got a great performance from Tyler Kundera as he struck out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Kundera a new career-high.

At the plate, Josh Holt was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Cumberland's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-18 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Bodine, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Cumberland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buena only managed eight hits.

Cumberland's win bumped their record up to 6-19. As for Buena, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Cumberland nor Buena have any future games scheduled.
