Basketball Recap: Cimarron Falls Despite Big Games from Anthony Montano and Ethan Butler

Cimarron lost against Waukomis back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cimarron Trailblazers came up short against the Waukomis Chiefs, falling 79-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trailblazers have suffered since November 16, 2024.

Cimarron's loss came despite strong showings from Ethan Butler and Anthony Montano. Butler dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards, while Montano shot 4-for-5 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Butler's morning made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Avery Butler, who posted 14 points.

Cimarron has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Waukomis, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Cimarron has already played their next contest, a 60-59 defeat against Timberlake on the 28th. As for Waukomis, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-58 win against Oklahoma Bible on the 28th.
