Basketball Game Preview: Kim/Branson Mustangs vs. Hoehne Farmers

The Kim/Branson Mustangs and the Hoehne Farmers will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hoehne will be up against a hot Kim/Branson squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Kim/Branson blew past Sangre de Cristo 59-37 on Thursday. The Mustangs pushed the score to 47-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Thunderbirds had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kim/Branson to victory, but perhaps none more so than David Gamez, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. Gamez has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Rosas, who posted five points along with eight assists and eight steals.

Meanwhile, Hoehne waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Redhawks, posting a 75-40 victory.

Kim/Branson's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Hoehne, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-7.

Kim/Branson took a serious blow against Hoehne in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 51-24. Can Kim/Branson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
