Basketball Recap: August Filter Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

Weldon Valley hadn't done well against Briggsdale recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Weldon Valley Warriors walked away with a 43-35 victory over the Briggsdale Falcons. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 69-36 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Weldon Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was August Filter out in front who posted 17 points. Filter's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Dane Johnston was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Weldon Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Briggsdale, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Weldon Valley and Briggsdale could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Weldon Valley (ranked 296th) will meet Front Range Baptist (ranked 133rd) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Briggsdale will take on Otis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 206 places (305 vs. 99).
