Baseball Game Preview: Northern Highlands Highlanders vs. Hackensack Comets

The Northern Highlands Highlanders will face off against the Hackensack Comets at 4:15 a.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Northern Highlands fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Teaneck on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Highwaymen by a score of 8-7. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Hackensack lost 7-1 to Bergenfield on Friday.

Hackensack got a good showing from Luis Franco, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Franco has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Hackensack saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Darius Pemberton, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Northern Highlands' defeat dropped their record down to 10-12-1. As for Hackensack, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11-1.

Northern Highlands skirted past Hackensack 5-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
