Warriors enter 2023 atop rankings after grabbing Class A title on last-second field goal.

The 2023 high school football season in Nebraska kicks off later this month and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Omaha Westside (Omaha) owns the No. 1 spot in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.

The Warriors overcame a 40-27 fourth-quarter deficit against Gretna in last year's Class A state championship game, scoring two touchdowns in the final four minutes and then icing the 43-40 victory with a 45-yard Tristan Alvano field goal. Senior quarterback Anthony Rezac is back to Westside after throwing for more than 2,200 yards and 19 scores. He also ran for 1,118 yards and 19 more touchdowns.

In addition to Omaha Westside, other defending state champions included in the rankings are Bennington (Class B) and Pierce (Class C1).

Rankings are computer-generated, factoring in past results and adjustments such as returners and statistical data when available.
