Basketball Game Preview: Mid-Pacific Institute Owls vs. Oakwood Owls

The Mid-Pacific Institute Owls and the Oakwood Owls will round out the year against one another at at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Mid-Pacific Institute is headed into the match having just suffered their closest defeat since November 26, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of El Capitan by a score of 57-54. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Owls came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in Hawaii, while the Gauchos are ranked 420th in California).

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four games, Oakwood finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They were dealt a 67-23 loss at the hands of Heritage Christian. The match marked the Owls' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Oakwood's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-5. As for Mid-Pacific Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
