Baseball Recap: Pearland Has No Trouble Against Manvel

Pearland won the last time they faced Manvel and things went their way on Saturday too. Pearland put the hurt on Manvel with a sharp 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Oilers, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Jaden Ornelas tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Aidan Avalos and Nicholas Partida did most of the damage at the plate: Avalos scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Partida went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave Avalos a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Brown, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Pearland pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Manvel, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pearland beat Manvel by a score of 10-0 on Tuesday.
