Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Parkview Baptist's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

There's no place like home for Parkview Baptist, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let the St. Joseph's Academy Redstickers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Aimee Gawlik made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, Ava Landry was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since March 1st. Another player making a difference was Emmarie Lacy, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Parkview Baptist hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Parkview Baptist has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. St. Joseph's Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Parkview Baptist will take on French Settlement at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Parkview Baptist's pitchers better be ready for this one: French Settlement has averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for St. Joseph's Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dutchtown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
