Baseball Game Preview: Jonesport-Beals Royals vs. Machias Bulldogs

For the first time this season, Jonesport-Beals will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to take on the Machias Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Jonesport-Beals nor Machias posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Jonesport-Beals is leaving town to face Machias after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Royals lost 22-0 to Calais on Wednesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Machias kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sumner. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brady Fergerson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one triple.

Jonesport-Beals suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Machias in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Royals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
