Softball Recap: Astoria/VIT Takes a Loss

Astoria/VIT lost against Cuba/Spoon River Valley back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rebels lost 14-2 to the Wildcats.

Astoria/VIT saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was C Sutton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Astoria/VIT's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Cuba/Spoon River Valley, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-6.

Astoria/VIT and Cuba/Spoon River Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Rebels will square off against Brimfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (486 vs. 34). Meanwhile, Cuba/Spoon River Valley (ranked 273rd) will meet Illini Bluffs (ranked 68th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
