Softball Game Preview: San Lorenzo Valley Cougars vs. Aptos Mariners

San Lorenzo Valley is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Aptos Mariners at 4:30 p.m.

Last Wednesday, San Lorenzo Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Saratoga and fell 2-1. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Aptos). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Presentation a 22-0 shutout on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

The victory got Aptos back to even at 3-3. As for San Lorenzo Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

San Lorenzo Valley skirted past Aptos 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will San Lorenzo Valley repeat their success, or does Aptos has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
